Dumonde Slam Dunkley

Dumonde Slam Dunkley (he/his) is an Afro-Indigenous warrior who is continuing the fight of his Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape ancestors to build a radically different future for the United States of America.

A citizen of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Nation of New Jersey, Slam was born in Besancon, France, and grew up along the Appoquinomink River (Lenape for "The place we carry cones") on Lenapehoking (Homelands of the Lenape), now called Odessa, Delaware. Slam was recruited by the Men's Rowing program at Saint Joseph's University where he received a bachelor's degree in Philosophy and a Master's degree in Organizational Development and  Leadership. While there, he focused on elevating the consciousness of the student body by writing and presenting on intersections between White privilege and the attack on Indigenous peoples and Mother Earth. He also created a panel discussion group called "Setting the Tone," a discussion panel that creates a safe, informative, and solution-oriented space for a dialogue regarding racial injustice and consciousness.

Slam currently serves on the Board of Directors of Earth Guardians and attends the James E. Rodgers School College of Law at the University of Arizona. Upon completing the Indigenous People's Law and Policy program, he plans to continue to fight for the protection and recognition of the inherent rights of Indigenous peoples and Mother Earth.
