What is CAN?

Earth Guardians and a coalition of youth leaders rose in solidarity across the globe to engage in a global day of action.

On this day, as youth leaders, change-makers, and thought leaders, we organized grassroots projects to build resilience + implement creative solutions to show the world what crews and our partners are are capable of to combat the climate crisis now.

Why the CAN Campaign?

As of 2022, the clock is counting down, and we have 7 years until the effects of the climate crisis are near irreversible.

This is why, each year, we host a Global Day of Action to unify the world by taking action and centering the stories/work of vulnerable communities. The CAN campaign is the youth’s response to failed negotiations and 27 years of delay in substantial climate action by world leaders. Inspired by the global climate strikes movement, CAN transforms that energy of organized striking into direct action and climate solutions.

With CAN, we are saying, “We won’t wait for politicians and negotiators to decide the fate of humanity… we are putting our future into our hands and choosing action now.”

Why was CAN on Nov. 12, 2022?

Earth Guardians chose November 12th with a greater strategy in mind. As stated on the UN website,” The 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change – COP27 – will build on the outcomes of COP26 to deliver action on an array of issues critical to tackling the climate emergency,” but youth around the globe are hesitant to believe this statement.

Choose Action Now puts the spotlight back on the individuals who have already been addressing the climate crisis, daily, while empowering their local communities to join them. On November 12th, youth leaders from across the globe stand in solidarity with one another, to make it loud and clear, action is happening and more needs to happen.

At the same time, this network is demanding world leaders take action now stated clearly in a Platform of Demands, written by a coalition of youth-led organizations.

“it's time to choose action now. We are all we need. Just come and join us to make it happen."
